Sabres re-sign Sekera, MacArthur

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman
Andrej Sekera on a multi-year deal and the club has reached an arbitration settlement on a one-year contract with forward
Clarke MacArthur.
Sekera (6/8/1986, 6-0,191 lbs) appeared in 69 games last season with
the Sabres, picking up 19 points (3+16) and one game-winning goal
(3/6/09 vs. Phoenix). Last year, the defenseman missed 12 games due to
an ankle injury.
In three NHL seasons, Sekera has appeared in 108 regular season games
and has amassed 27 points (5+22) with the Sabres. The native of
Bojnice, Slovakia was Buffalo’s Third Round
choice (71st overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
MacArthur, (4/6/1985, 5-11,191 lbs) set career-high totals in every
statistical category during the 2008-09 campaign. In 71 games, the
center collected 31 points (17+14) and averaged 13:50 on-ice time per
game.
The Lloydminster, Alberta native has appeared in 127 career NHL games,
picking up 53 points (28+25) and 80 penalty minutes. MacArthur was the
Sabres’ Third Round selection (74th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry
Draft.
